HCL's Shiv Nadar named country's most generous philanthropist, donated Rs 3 crore per day | Full list

By India Today Web Desk: With an annual donation of Rs 1,161 crore, Software giant HCL's founder, Shiv Nadar, has bagged the title of 'India's Most Generous', as per the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022. Nadar had donated Rs 3 crore per day.
 

The 77-year-old tycoon, who was placed second after Wipro's Azim Premji last year, reclaimed the top spot in 2022.

Wipro’s Azim Premji slipped to the second spot with an annual donation of Rs 484 crore, while Gautam Adani came seventh in the list with a donation of Rs 190 crore.
 

The third and fourth spots were occupied by Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla.
 

The list further revealed that in India a total of 15 individuals made an annual donation of over Rs 100 crore, 20 donated over Rs 50 crore and 43 over Rs 20 crore.
 

AM Naik, 80, group chairman of Larsen and Toubro, who donated Rs 142 crore, is the country's most generous professional manager.

Among the women, Rohini Nilekani emerged as the most generous woman philanthropist with a donation of Rs 120 crore. Leena Gandhi Tewari and Anu Aga donated Rs 21 crore and Rs 20 crore respectively.

This is the 9th annual ranking of the most generous individuals in India, featuring the likes of Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Zerodha founders Nikhil and Nithin Kamath and others.
